This is my opinion on classes when starting off. Blizzard kinda made every class pretty survivable at start for leveling so there is no wrong class to choose.
Warrior -
Pros: Plate dps/tank, A very strong class to choose when starting out you wear the heaviest armor to take hits and can dish out the hits to kill an enemy quickly. Can get random dungeon groups very quickly if you choose tank spec.
Cons: No self healing until higher levels other than First Aid. Can be kited very easily in pvp starting out.
Hunter -
Pros: You get a pet starting off. Its like having your own tank which you can heal. Damage out put is great. Lots of survivability leveling. My personal favorite choice to start a new character.
Cons: Once a NPC or Player gets too you it can be hard to get them off. You need range to be most effective. No self Healing until higher level.
Mage -
Pros: Lots of Damage, You'll most likely kill an enemy before they reach you. Higher levels you get your own teleport ability's to make traveling very easy. Make own food and water to decrease down time.
Cons: Only can wear cloth, which means if you do get hit its probably gonna hurt. No self healing. And if you cant learn to kite your gonna get hurt.
Druid -
Pros: A true Hybrid class. You can heal, tank or dps. Large survivability with any spec you choose. You can change forms. Have travel form for ground and water. Fast que times for healer or tank. Fun to play in pvp. Suggest playing this class after you've played another class before.
Cons: It can be hard to master using all the forms to maxium potential performing roles in pvp. If selecting healer or moonkin it can be hard finding leather casting gear.
Paladin -
Pros: Hybrid Class, You can tank heal or dps in plate gear. A nice choice for first character. Easy leveling having tons of survivability being able to self heal. You use spells and Holy Power. Special Paladin mounts.
Cons: Not going to top any charts with paladin dps. PvP can get frustrating if your not a healer.
Shaman -
Pros: Wears mail for a bit of surviablity. Can choose to be caster dps or melee. Can be a viable healer. Has self heals for the "oh shit" moments. Travel form. Totems give generous buffs.
Cons: Even with self healing it seems to not be enough sometimes. Caster mail gear is hard to come by. Not a lot of survivability in pvp other than healing spec. Not a great choice for first class
Rouge -
Pros: Your a rouge whats cooler than that. Stealth is great makes questing easy, you dont have to worry about killing everything just to get to that one guy you have to take down. Higher levels you get tons of ability's to help you live in "oh shit" situations. Lots of damage.
Cons: Once you run out of ability's consider yourself dead. No self healing until higher level. Long Que times for random dungeons.
Priest -
Pros: Healing obviously your a priest! Finding groups is very quick if you choose one of the two healing specs. Easy to find gear. Easy class to learn for healing specs.
Cons: It might just be me but I found shadow hard to learn/master. You can only wear cloth so if you have no defensive cool downs hits are going to hurt. Very little Crowd Control.
Warlock -
Pros: Like hunter you get your very own pet to start off with. Lots of Damage and survivability. Lots of unique spells and skills. Demons are awesome what more you want! Still not my first second or third choice of class to start off with.
Cons: Wears cloth, Hard to master, Long que times for dungeons. Minimal self healing till higher level.
Now these are all the Original classes you can choose from i didn't include Death Knight and Monk. Remember this is just my opinion of the classes, Many people would probably argue with what I wrote.

Starting your new Character
Now lets get you in the drivers seat of the character you'll be exploring the world with. I have always have and always will play horde. Im sorry for any of you Alliance players but this blog is Horde. This does not mean you can't learn anything or follow along with me as I level a new toon. It's just some zones and races won't relate too you obviously because your alliance.
I'm Starting us off with a Screen Shot for making a class. It's a lot of information too list and is easier read than remember from a video.
Number 1 - Race Selection
Number 2 - Description of Benefits the race you have selected provides
Number 3- Class Summary of ability's roles armor and play style in game, change selection in box Number 4.
Number 4 - Class Icon Selection changes with race selected.
Lets start with Number 1
This will be the first thing you do. The tough choice of choosing Alliance or Horde. As stated above I choose Horde always. Number 1's box also has inside of it the different races you can choose from. By clicking the "More Info" tab underneath Number 1's box you will bring up box Number 2 and box Number 3. Okay, now try to follow Box Number 2 directly reflects what you click in box Number 1. And box Number 3 directly reflects what you click in Box Number 4. Also box Number 4's classes will change depending on the race you pick in box Number 1.
After you've read all this information World of Warcraft has given you and you carefully selected the class you want to play, you click customize make your character as sexy or scary as you want it pick a name (Hopefully everyone knows how to work a character customization screen like that). You can begin your journey into Azeroth!
Please note I will have a post about my personal opinions on classes how they level vs other classes strengths weaknesses which ones strive in pvp and/or pve while leveling. All that good stuff. I just wanted to get the ball rolling here =D!

Fhengs
Fhengs's Intro
First things first, I am Fhengs. I have been playing World of Warcraft off and on for many years now not sure how long exactly I'd like to say right around six or seven years. I was leveling to 60 When the burning crusade released and changed the cap to level 70.
The purpose of this blog is to help others with some tips and tricks I've learned from leveling countless "toons" (WoW alternative characters) and endless hours I have spent playing. I'll include the following and possibly more:
Now a little bit more about me. I have had several reasons to play World of Warcraft. All started as fun with some of my friends from school. At this time playing a game online with friends was the coolest most futuristic thing we could possibly think about doing. Which turned into a battle for who's character was the highest level(yes leveling was a slow slow process at one point). Than soon after max level it became a gear race to do more damage or down bigger and better bosses. But alas, people move on to new things games lives whatever. I however never really got to escape.
Their are many reasons to play a mmorpg. Maybe a hard day at work you want to come home relax kill some dragons. Go into a battleground test your skill and strength against like minded players. Down that boss your guild has been having trouble with for so long.
However I used it as an escape, not going into great detail but lets put it as I had a rough time growing up. World of Warcraft was my escape from all the shitty things going on in my life at one period or another. The reasons I mentioned above I did but it was not the true root of why I started playing and why I continued to play. I can confidently say I play for fun 80% of the time now compared to when I was younger. I still use it as an escape sometimes just a lot less serious.
World of Warcraft says Take all things in moderation including World of Warcraft... A lot easier said than done.
Now lets have some fun. I hope everyone enjoys and follows along.
